Help with uploading gameplay to a new computer

I just bought a new laptop and downloaded my sims game over. I want to pick up where I left off in the game on my old computer. I copy / pasted the game save from my Sims 4 saves folder onto a flash drive and then pasted it into saves folder in new computer. When I turn the game on (new computer), it goes straight to create a sim. Everything from my old game is gone except my mods (I was able to successfully copy / paste them to the new computer.). I just want to pick up where I left off without having to start everything over. I know I can get my old sims from the library, but I was hoping that there was another way besides that.

Did you overwrite the files that were already in the file? Is the file with your saves still the 'saves' folder?

I don't think that I overwrote the files. I'm going to try that link and let you know what happens.
