Go home spot

In my Sims 3 world, for some reason when my Sims 'go home', they go downstairs into the basement instead of by the front door. Is there a way that I can change where they stop walking?

@escapedpolarbear  Have you manually set the front door as the front door?  You can see the option by clicking on it.  If that doesn't help, try setting a different door, at least temporarily.

You can also try moving the mailbox somewhere else on the lot, preferably to a spot that doesn't have basement underneath it.  Again, test a few different spots to see whether any placement makes a difference.
