Glitchy start up

I had sims on my old computer, and just today I downloaded it on my new laptop. 
On startup, the sims icon appears in the task bar, and i have to continuously click on it for it to load. When I click on it, it glitches, bringing up other apps I have on my computer momentarily, like discord or spotify, before flicking back to my windows home page thing. I have to click on it 10+ and go through this weird glitch so that it loads, and then I can play the game. Why is it doing this?

@CiaranBom  Please restart your computer, and don't open any programs other than Origin and Sims 4.  Let me know whether the issue still happens.

If it's gone, my first suspect would be the Discord overlay; you can test with it disabled, or with Origin in-game disabled, or both.  The setting for the latter is under Application Settings > Origin in-game.
