Game unplayable after update 2/26/21

★ Novice

Have just installed the latest update, and since then, though the game will start, (unlike for many others, it seems), it is unplayable.  The load/splash screen sits so long that it appears frozen.  Every screen on the game takes an age to load, and when a household is selected, nothing can be clicked on, and the screen will not scroll, but simply hiccups along.  This is not a computer system requirements issue, I was playing quite nicely before the update, but now...  nothing works.

This is very disappointing, and why is it that updates always break more than they fix?

@winteryrose11  The Sims 4 errors in your dxdiag reference aa component of the 2015-2019 VC++ runtimes, which Sims 4 uses.  So it's best to uninstall your current copies and install new ones from Microsoft.  Click Windows key-i, select Apps, and scroll down to the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables.

Click on the 2015 (or 2017, or 2015-2019) versions, both x86 and x64, and Uninstall.  (Don't touch the versions from any other year.)  Then download and install new versions directly from Microsoft:

You need both the x86 and x64 versions, but you can skip the ARM version, which is for a different class of device.  Restart your computer before trying to play.

If that doesn't help, please move your entire Sims 4 user folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop; when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  Don't add anything to this new folder yet; just see whether you can start a new save.

And no, your computer's specs aren't the issue here.

@Eilinelithil and @winteryrose11  Try clearing Origin's cache:

https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

and repairing the game: open your Origin game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and select Repair.

If that doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Please also let me know what antivirus program you use.

sims not playable after feb 2021 update

★★★ Novice

I am not able to play sims at all after the newest update. Like the sims opens and loads for a few seconds but then closes and origin pops up. I have tried clearing cache, I have taken out my mods, and I even tried repairing several times. here is my DxDiag file, my specs are not the problem, I don't think. but if anyone has any suggestions please let me know. :c
