Game only loads if I create a new sim

So here is a weird one.  I was having the white screen issue on loading a saved game.  However, I could create a new game and play just fine.  So I tried going into my saved game, but instead of playing my regular family, I created a new sim, moved them into a house, new went to mange neighborhood, and found I could now successfully load my regular family.  This almost always works.  My neighborhoods are filling with other sims because I have done this so many times.  Any ideas?  This is a brand new gaming laptop, and I'm playing with no mods.  Other games work fine.  I'm attaching my dxdiag file.  I've tried all the troubleshooting tips in the various white screen threads, but no resolution.  So I just keep creating new sims...
