Game goes mute and has to be force closed.

I wanted to re-bring this up and add more details since the original post seems abandoned and I cannot comment on it. 

When i unplug my USB headphones the sims 4 goes mute and refuses to be closed normally. I have to force crash my game and the only way to get sound back is to restart the game. I'm shocked that this has been an issue since 2014..everything is updated on my end. 
This also happens when i bump my headphones and it "disconnects" them.

@Boop_Troops   The "bump" may cause a momentary disconnect of the USB. Is your computer a desktop or laptop? Have you checked the setting in the control panel - audio? Are you using external speakers? If you quit the game then unplug do you have the problem?
