Could you also try compatibility mode and running as administrator or maybe even try if it starts if you do a clean boot: http://help.ea.com/en/article/how-to-clean-boot-your-pc/
(we haven't tried that yet, right ? It all becomes a bit of a blur today)

lots of us are having the same problem and have tried these solutions over and over again... it still ain't working. when trying to play it just thinks for a while then nothing. no errors. seems to be an issue with pre-ordered & pre-loaded customers?

I've tried unistalling and redownloading,
unistalling and reinstalling origin downloaded newly from the website,
restarting my computer (including the "clean boot"),
using the installer files located in the sims 4 "_installer" folder,
updating directx runtimes,
updated the visual redistributables,
running origin as an administrator,
running The Sims 4 as an administrator.
Nothing works, the game simply will not launch, there are no errors or any visual idications of any problems. I've tried to start the game through Origin as well as trying to run the game by using the executable.

I'm being told that my OS is having compatibilty issues with TS4.exe .... does this help anything?

Processor: i5 or i7 with at least 2.5 Ghz (don't get an i3, they have overheating issues)
RAM: at least 6-12 GB RAM, the game can't handle more than 4 but it's always good to have some spare for the graphics card, the OS and other stuff
Graphics Card: Very important. Get something that is green across the board on here: http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS4_System_Requirements
Operating System: A 64 bit system is a must
Hard Drive: at least 500 GB
@all others: Sorry. I with this type of issue I can only help one person at the time per thread or it gets confusing. If you have your own thread, post as much info as possible, read the stickies that are being made and bookmark them for when you get an answer. You can all see that it's very busy here so everyone needs to help each other. One thread at the time.
