Deleted file

★★★ Newbie

I think I accidentally deleted a program file, but I don't know how to get it back do I have to reinstall the game, or is there an easier way to do it?

When I tried to open the game today an error message showed up that said.

"The item 'TS4_64.exe' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly. Do you want to delete this shortcut?"

I think I deleted it. What do I do to be able to play the game again?

Re: Deleted file

@Lucy19112  The shortcut can be recreated easily enough; the problem is when the file it points to is removed.  For that, try repairing the game in Origin: open your game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and select Repair.  Then try to launch the game through Origin, just to see whether it works.  If it doesn't, please let me know, and list the antivirus you use.

The repair may put back the TS4_x64 shortcut on your desktop.  If it doesn't, you can create one by opening the game's installed files, which will be here by default:

Program Files (86)\Origin Games\The Sims 4\Game\Bin

right-clicking on TS4_x64.exe, and choosing Send to > Desktop.
