Cursor switches to rotation mode within 2 minutes of starting to play.

I am running sims on an ASUS laptop with no wireless mouse and no custom content. I just installed it yesterday and it's a brand new computer. I've looked everywhere and can't find the solution. Within two minutes of getting into CAS, the cursor switches to this camera with arrows around it and only lets you rotate your sim, and absolutely nothing else. It doesn't even let you close the game. I have to do CTRL, ALT, then DELETE then go to task manager and close it down. I have been playing sims since the beginning of Sims 2 and I have never had this problem. I just want to play the game! Thanks in advance, and happy simming!
