I think the problem was that the new update broke some files. After a factory reset, it's working fine.

Ever since the update, the memory usage seems to grow exponentially until it is too much for the computer to handle.

How big is your save game ? Does it happen on all saves or just one of them ?

Before the update, I could play Sims 4 just fine, but now after a couple of minutes of being open, even just on the main menu, my computer crashes.

I've had this computer since 2017 when Sims 4 came out. I got it for another big game, Obduction by Cyan Worlds. I haven't really needed to update my computer since then. I have 8 GB of RAM, also.
