Cant install patch and wont connect to origin

My game does not install the 1.6 patch. I also have the problem of when I go onto my sims game it says "Unable to connect to origin" eventhough my origin is logged in and fine. Ive even tried connecting the game straight to EA by logging in and I still have the same result. I tried to download the patch manually and it downloads and says "Update Error: Invalid File" I do not know what to do and I am starting to get annoyed at the constant errors of this game and would appreciate someone helping me fix this. • Do you have mods installed?
