Cannot install Exchange items

I have everything up to date. 

My launcher seems to hang when I select exchange stuff to install. They appear in my download folder, but I can't advance anything from there. I select the items I want and hit install. nothing happens.

Any suggestions?

are you doing add to game ?   try this sellect the exchange item you want to have then save file go to your downloads folder then click the item the launcher will do the rest

When I do that, an ! appears next to the downloads icon and the launcher "freezes." it still says it's running under task manager and I can click on stuff on the home page to take me to the website, but I can't click on any of the icons on the left hand side.
