Can't save Sims 3 at all, it just spins.

★ Novice

Just returned to the game, updated to the new EA app. Can't save any Sims 3 at all. Deleted all my families, made new ones. Deleted my worlds and started over like 3 times. Tried just using a family already in a town. Nothing will save. It just spins. Tried everything except reinstalling. Was hoping to avoid having to do that again.

Is this just a thing now? People can't save their Sims 3 games? I see a lot of posts about it but no solutions.

Re: Can't save Sims 3 at all, it just spins.

@Uzumele  Is OneDrive running on your computer?  Even if you never use it, this could still be the issue.  You can test by pausing syncing; right-click the cloud icon in the lower-right corner of the screen to see the option.

If that doesn't help, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a(nother) new save and see whether you can save your progress.

If that doesn't help either, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.
