@Psychotps, and @jpkarlsen , I played as both a Spellcaster from CAS and as a regular Sim who did the mote quest.  Both worked with no problems in my game!

I also experienced the issue of origin directing me to the deluxe version (on the 11th, so the game pack was definitely out). but managed to purchase though EA on this site, and then reopened origin to see it already downloading hopefully this helps
