Can't play with households

I can use CAS like usual so that isn't a problem. The thing that I'm having an issue with is when I click on a household I wan to play, the loading screen appears (like normal), however when it has finished loading, instead of showing my household and Sims, I get thrown back to the map. this has been an issue for a while now and is unabling me to play my houseolds and enter build buy mode.

Can anyone help?

Do you have any mods or CC (custom content)? Try taking that out.
