@alexfweeks Are you playing on PC? If so, try repairing your game through Origin.
While logged in on your Origin account:
- Click on My Game Library
- Right click on the Sims 4 game tile
- Select Repair from the popup menu
After the repair scan has completed, restart your game & see if the worlds are back and your 10-year old can be happy again :D

Open Origin and rightclick the game. Select Repair.

I downloaded the update for Sims 4 on my Mac last night.
Now, when I load a saved game, it starts the load fine but I get presented with a menu of different locations but they are all locked because I only have the base game (see screenshot attached).
Because of this I can't go any further into the game.
I have tried reinstalling Origin, and deleting the download cache. It doesn't look like this is a known issue.

Do the three basegame worlds (Oasis Springs, Willow Creek, Newcrest) appear at all on that screen?

@Sarahbov Try repairing the game in Origin: open your game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and select Repair. If that doesn't help, run the Origin reset tool for macOS and repair again.
