CAS Glitches

★★★ Newbie

I updated my game and when I started playing, it was like the game couldn’t load the clothing because the clothing had big red patches with question marks on them so I couldn’t see what the sim was supposed to look like. It was like that for the eyes, hair, and skin too.

This is happen when you using modifications (scripts, custom content, skins), @LaurenZsider12. Please remove them. Perform the basis steps to solve your problem.

Rename your "The Sims 4" folder in "Documents\Electronic Arts\" to "Sims4_Backup".
Clean cache files: https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games
Repair the game through Origin: http://sims4.crinrict.com/en/2014/09/general-troubleshooting/
Start the game. Test if your error is gone.

Still having problems? Try this:
Run both as an administrator and a temporary disabled User Access Control. http://help.ea.com/en/article/how-do-i-run-a-program-or-a-game-as-an-administrator/

Close any not needed applications. They might conflict with Origin and/or The Sims 4. See more here: http://help.ea.com/en/article/programs-that-may-cause-conflicts-with-origin/
Maybe you must update your drivers first. Let's start with your video card driver. See more about this: https://help.ea.com/en/help/pc/pc-graphics-troubleshooting/#updatedrivers
Also, check for Windows Updates. Reboot your computer after these installations.

Does your computer meet the system requirements from The Sims 4?: https://www.origin.com/gbr/en-us/store/the-sims/the-sims-4#store-page-section-requirements

Looks like an empty CAS, @valeska7849656. @Belisha_Beacon
If not already been solved: clean your cache, rename The Sims 4 folder and then repair the game through the Origin application.

Mostly caused when using modifications.

Basic steps:
First, the game and Origin must be closed!

Rename your "The Sims 4" folder in "Documents\Electronic Arts\", for example to "Sims4-Old".

Howto clear the Origin cache, see: https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games

Are you connected to the Internet and Origin application is able to get internet access? Make sure, that the Origin application isn't restricted by other software.

Then, start the Origin application and login with your EA / Origin account.

Repair The Sims 4 via your game library (in the Origin application), by right clicking on it's tile and choose the "Repair" option.

Wait until the repair is finished. This takes some time, pending your system's hardware and internet speed.

Test if the problem is solved. Start a new game.

Re: [CURRENT ISSUE] Empty CAS/ Question Marks/ Invisible Sims/ Night Sky CAS

@LaurenZsider12  I've merged your post with the master thread on this issue.  Normally, a repair will fix the problem: open your Origin game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and select Repair.

The Sims 4 not working

★★★ Newbie

So yesterday I installed an update for The Sims 4 and everything was working fine except my CAS. I went and edit my sim but the sim didn’t show up while using CAS but it did show their traits, voice changing, walk style, and gender and the background was the stars and the night sky? When I restarted my game and also restarted Origin, it didn’t fix anything, I couldn’t edit any of my sims and sims that was already in the game so I searched a solution. It said to go to your Electronics Arts folder and putting your Sims folder to your desktop and open the game. I did those thing and I tried to create a sim, everything was kind of the same. There was nothing on screen except for a more lighter GUI. There was supposed to be a new Sims 4 folder,  there was but it still didn’t solve my problem. I have not downloaded any CC, just a few packs and I put my original folder merged to the other Sims 4 folder cause I didn’t know what to do. I started the game and my Packs for the game showed up and they were popping up in my screen. I tried CAS the same thing happened as last time. Please help! it seems like the game has broke and I don’t know what to do.

My Sims Don't Have Skins

★★ Novice

Ever since the Sims 4 anniversary update, my sims have pitch black checkers and question marks all over them, blood red eyes, and red teeth. Some buttons don't have images and just appear with a llama (I will provide images.) This also applies to gameplay. Please help!

@sidthedoggo Do you use cc or mods? When or if your answer is yes please exit your sim game and remove your mods folder to your desktop.

Then delete the localthumbcache.package file and restart your game.
When the problem doesn't occur anymore you can start replacing your modifications from the desktop folder back into the mods folder of : '\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4' by using the 50/50 methode.

This means that you start replacing a batch of 50% back into the game and test whether everything goes fine. I.e. no checkers or question marks.
Then you check the other 50% of the mods and test the game again.
As soon as the problem re-occurs you know the broken or out dated mod is in that batch.
You repeat this proces until you find the broken or outdated mod.
