CAS won't load, nor will any of my sims in my neighborhoods

★★★ Newbie

I've never had issues with The Sims 4, but recently it's been unusable due to a few glitches. First, Creat-a-Sim won't load at all (photo attached). Then when I go into my neighborhoods and click on a Sim household, it shows a blank photo where it usually shows the Sims that live there. Then if I go into the household, the Sim is missing and the floors are showing a "?" mark instead of normal flooring. Please please help!!!!

@kacebace45 Well, the first problem I'm not sure about.

The second usually occurs when the game is slow to load the townies. It could be because of too many townies, slow computer, or maybe problems with CC.

The third always happens when you created it with a CC that is a recolor of another cc mesh and the CC mesh is gone. Or vice-versa... a mesh with no texture or texture with no mesh.

Sounds like you have CC problems. The third problem you can easily fix by just putting down a different flooring.

Does the problem still occur if you create an entirely new world?

I have no CC in my game so not sure why that would be happening. It’s easy to fix but I’m still concerned why it’s happening because I’ve never added CC to my game before.

thanks

Hi @kacebace45 -

I suggest you try to repair your game -

      • Exit TS4 and Origin completely.
      • Save a copy of your Saves folder to your desktop (or somewhere else safe, to use as a backup)
      • Move your Mods folder to the desktop
      • Delete the file localthumbcache.package Default location is C:\[YourUserName]\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4  Instructions with pictures are here: https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2014/09/delete-cache-files/
      • Launch Origin "As Administrator" (Right-click Origin.exe, choose Compatibility tab, Check the box next to "Run this program as administrator")
      • In Origin, right-click The Sims 4 icon and choose "Repair". Origin has to be online for this to complete. Let the repair run until completed, on the game and any dlc's installed
      • Launch The Sims 4 and check to see if the issue is fixed. (your sims may be naked or bald, depending on if there were mods or cc installed previously)

You said you have never used cc, but we didn't specifically address mods. If you had any mods installed, and the issues are fixed after the repair, you most likely have a mod that needs to be updated. This will take a bit of detective work; one at a time, copy your mods back to the mods folder, then open the game and verify everything is working. If you have a lot of mods or cc, use the 50% method. Once you've identified the culprit(s), check with the creators to see if updated versions are available.

If the problems remain after the repair, please reply back and attach a dxdiag How to DxDiag

  1. Select the 'Choose file' button below the post box
  2. Find the DxDiag file and select it - hit Open
  3. Add text to your post and hit Submit
