CANT GET SERIAL NUMBER

I am trying to install my sims 3 on my laptop but can't find my serial number. it is still installed on the PC but when i tried to registry method that everyone is suggesting, there was no ergc folder and where the serial number should have been under Data it said 'value not set'. any words of wisdom???

The game code can only be registered to one account. The code is only a mechanism to activate the game. Once the game is activated that code is locked to the account in use at the time. Log in to the account you used before and the installation be get activated. You can have multiple installations of the game but your account can only be opened to one user at a time. If you are playing TS3 on one computer you will need to log off to play on the other computer.
