After downloading the Legacy update, the game wont launch

★ Novice

After updating Origin like I was prompted to do, it told me to download the Legacy Edition for the Sims 4, however now I cannot open the Sims 4 at all. I am using Windows 10 PC, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game and origin at least 4 times now and it still wont launch. My entire screen turns black and everything stops and once the screen reappears Origin is open but no Sims 4. I have even went into the game properties and switched to the Legacy Edition, to ensure. Can anyone help? I've been struggling with this for about two days now.

@MikaylaDiane15  That's much better, thanks.  You don't need the Legacy Edition, whatever Origin says.  It's easy enough to switch back to the standard version though.  Open your Origin game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, select Game Properties > Advanced Launch Options, and choose 64-bit from the dropdown menu.  If you don't see it, right-click on the Sims 4 icon and select Repair, restart your computer, and look again.

The driver for your Nvidia 750 ti is also a couple years old.  You can get a new one here:

Please also make sure that your monitor is plugged into the Nvidia card, not the motherboard.  If you're not sure what you're looking at, please see step 3 in this guide to setting up your model computer:

@MikaylaDiane15  Please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

@MikaylaDiane15  I'm not sure what that's supposed to be, but I can't do anything with it.  Please attach the entire dxdiag file in .txt form to a reply here.  When you're typing a post, there's a Browse button next to a paper clip icon (above the Preview and Submit buttons).  You can use that to attach files to a post.

Re: Ask

@kawaiinaidey  Try clearing Origin's cache, then restart your computer.

https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

If that doesn't help, clear its cache again and then uninstall it "the hard way."  This shouldn't affect your installed games.

https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/origin/origin/manually-uninstalling-origin/

If that doesn't help either, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/pc/how-to-gather-dxdiag-information/

Please also check the Reliability Monitor for entries relating to the game or Origin.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes.  You'll see a chart with a list of entries for each day.  For the last couple days, look for any entries that mention Sims 4 or Origin, or that have timestamps corresponding to a time when you tried to launch the game.  For each one, click View technical details, copy the information, and paste it into a text document (Notepad is fine).  You can attach it to a post as with the dxdiag.
