2019 new year update - CC not showing

I didn't know that we had to take mods and cc out before updating and updated....entering my game i found that none of my sims faces were showing up in households and the main worlds (oasis springs etc.) didn't show up, only expansion pack worlds which i don't own. i managed to repair my game so the main worlds came back and i could see my sims in manage households...except....despite putting my cc back in mods after repairing, no cc showed up not even in cas and my sims were either plain or pitch black!  so i repaired again with cc still in mods folders and still nothing?? im freaaaaking out im not tech savvy so please help!

Did you enable "turn on mods" in the game option?
