unknown error sims 3

I just downloaded sims3 from origin, but when I press play it only comes upp a message from sims saying "unknown error occurred".  I have tried to uninstall and install the game once again and also turn off the computer. No expanpacks so far. What can I do? Please help.

Just a note: there's a new version of Sims 3 being released on Wednesday, and we hope it won't have the unknown error issue.  However, it also has higher minimum requirements than the version you're trying to install, so you may or may not be able to run it when it's available.  Once you post your computer's specs, we can figure out what your options are.
