the sims 4 mac not working newest update

i recently updated sims 4 (the nanny update thing) and after the first open it won't open. it opens to the first sims title thing then the mac circle thing shows up and it says application not responding. i've had this problem before and its always been because of mods. so i removed all of my mods and it just got worse. i decided i should try uninstalling and reinstalling but that didn't work i also updated my computer. nothing helps it just gets worse and worse i am not prepared to give up i've spent way too much money on this game to let this go. i am at a loss here. i feel like i've done everything i can i will not accept it just won't work. i just really really need some help.
