@smallfry0270 , be patient. They said they're working on it.

How can I change Sims 3 32-bit app to a 64-bit app? My MacBook Air just got updated and I downloaded Origin to play Sims (I usually play on my PC which works fine but I haven’t played in years and I wanted to play somewhere NOT at my parents house) and it’s telling me I can’t because it’s not a 64-bit app and to contact the app developer.

@bibbidibobbidibb The 64-bit version hasn't been released yet. When it is, anyone who already has the game in their Origin library will be able to download it for free. But in the meantime, there's no way to play TS3 in Catalina.
You can keep an eye on this thread for updates:

Also, FWIW, it's important to note that they did update us three weeks ago that this is still in the pipeline. Now, would I love to have a bit more of an in-depth view of how progress is... progressing to the point where I'd have an idea of when we might see the final product? YES. Hell, I'd kill to get a peek at their Trello board (or whatever task management system they're using to plan the development of the 64-bit Metal version of TS3. However, for a game I bought a long time ago, I think I can be content in knowing that I'm getting one last update that may very well make the game much more playable than it was back when I first bought the game. I have this hope because it sounds like the nature of work that needs to be done is going to be a bit more complex and will make it a bit more native to MacOS and a bit less of a terrible Cider port.
A girl can hope, right?

I just went onto the live chat and they refunded me straight away! Would rather be playing the sims though!
Hope this helps.

Where can I find the live chat to get a refund? Would we be able to buy Sims 4 with the refund and run it on Mac Catalina?
April 2020
@breodo You should be able to get a refund automatically if you just bought the game:

Or, if that doesn't work, you'll need to wait until Monday to contact EA customer support. The usual support hours have been reduced due to the current situation, with phone calls completely unavailable and live chat open from 9 am to midnight GMT, Monday through Saturday.

Sims 4 runs just fine in Catalina, at least most of the time. If you want to get an opinion on how your Mac would handle it, you can ask in the Sims 4 Mac section.

Be sure to post the full specs of your Mac as described here:

Hi!
Does anyone know when EA will release The SIMS 3 64bit version for newer Mac OSs?
It was said that it'd be done in April 2020, but still no announcement of it on Origin or somewhere else.
