@LillyDoe They that's interesting, its definitely downloaded and installed on my game which I can reach the main issues screen on in the game. But I know people have tried to play the game base game and it hasn't worked

Honestly I was not doing anything out of the ordinary... I was really expecting an error message to pop up at any minute! I just...waited for the game to appear and then installed and then... the rest is history! 

I'm still having trouble downloading Late Night which I can see I'm entitled to but I'm not going to stare a gift horse in the mouth now . Going to enjoy some Sims 3 for me tonight  

Edit: I restarted Origin and Late Night started automatically downloading
