So yes, it's still coming, but no, we don't know when.

Sims 3 Mac Catalina issue

Has there still not been a 64 bit update?? It's august and they said "early 2020". I would think a simple port wouldn't take this long even with covid.

Re: the sims 3 (64-bit & metal) release

@KurtGoKrazy  There have been a few updates, but the new version hasn't been released yet.  These are the most recent posts from someone who does work for EA:

https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Mac/the-sims-3-64-bit-amp-metal-release/m-p/9257271#M7664

https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Mac/the-sims-3-64-bit-amp-metal-release/m-p/9342891#M7874

And for the record, this is not "a simple port."  The original Mac version of Sims 3 was, and still is, the Windows version wrapped in software that translates it for macOS.  This arrangement has caused a number of issues over the years and was awkward even on its best day.  The new version will be 64-bit and native to macOS, both of which will hopefully bring significant improvements.  This kind of project takes time though.

Re: the sims 3 (64-bit & metal) release

@attil00  The last we heard, the project was still very much alive.  Here are a couple comments from someone who does in fact work for EA:

To anyone considering it, I would greatly recommend enrolling your device in Boot Camp. I was already playing TS3 on my Mac since I still have Mojave as my OS but on a whim I enrolled my device to Boot Camp. It was surprisingly easy. It took about an hour with the majority of the time spent waiting on the Windows installation. I had never played TS3 on Windows before but I must say it runs better than it ever did on Mac. I was able to continue my saves from Mac and I was even able to build an enormous world in CAW and it still runs better than Mac.
