sims 4 not responding after island living download on Mac

Hi im really confused and annoyed, 

after hours of trying to fix my sims 4 game by repairing it and updating it and removing all mods, my sims 4 game still sometimes starts with a white screen or doesn't respond for about a minute and then after when I go into car it won't respond which then makes me just force quit the game. 

why is this happening its updated, repaired and its not the mods, this is so frustrating I just downloaded the sims 4 island living pack today and since then this has started, is it to do with island living or something?
