Is it possible that one or more of your keys are sticking which is affecting when you click on your mouse?

I doubt it. Go into Document > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 and drag the Options.ini file to the Trash then try playing again.
I noticed Apple Feedback Assistant icon in your Dock, What version of OS X are you currently using? If you were running a beta version of El Capitan pre-release, did you cleanly install it when it was finally released or just upgrade to the GM?

Ok. Can you try this - http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-Mac/READ-FIRST-Sims-4-Mac-Help-Guides-and-Troubleshooting/m-p/4612...
And if that doesn't work try resetting Origin - http://help.ea.com/uk/article/how-to-reset-origin-on-mac/
And if it still doesn't work try uninstalling and reinstalling the game.

Can you remember what action you took in relation to the above? I remember a few people who were running the beta having your issue with El Capitan. When they wiped and installed the final release all was well again. Also, what Mac do you have?
