Re: macOS Mojave - Sims 3 and Sims 4

@Sadiexsd

There is a stickied post at the top of this Mac forum on the first page explaining how it will affect Mac users. It also has a link to Apple's site confirming which Macs will be affected - https://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-Mac/The-Sims-4-Update-on-Supported-Systems/m-p/7677539#M16852

If you have a MacBook Pro from 2014 it will support Metal.

Re: macOS thread - 10.14 Mojave

★★★ Newbie

recently downloaded the sims 4. it has installed but whenever i click play, nothing happens on my screen and after a few minutes it says "application not responding".

I have tried reinstalling the game, reinstalling origin, turning off origin in game and restarting my computer but nothing seems to work. I only have the base game and have never used any CCs/mods. Is there any way i can fix this issue?

@bingobongo71

Are you running any antivirus or adblocker that could be causing it? If so turn it off and see if it helps.

Re: New update on mac causing sims have an error

@dylanlinds454  Which Sims game doesn't open?  And are you getting any error messages?  A screenshot would be helpful.

@puzzlezaddict The error I am seeing is

new proc failed with errno: 0x56

/Applications/The Sims 4.app/Contents/Frameworks/ActivationUI.app/Contents/MacOS/ActivationUI"

I've tried every workaround and have even re-installed Origin.

Running via terminal:

$ ./ActivationUI
-bash: ./ActivationUI: Bad CPU type in executable

I'm assuming this is just due to Apple changing something major in macOS and we'll have to wait for an update. Unfortunately, I'm unable to install Photoshop/Premiere 2018 either. :\

Ahh, looks like macOS killed 32-bit apps in Catalina. How stupid.

@Wlc0349

Yep, they did indeed kill 32-bit apps. Catalina is in beta and will be until around September. Hopefully EA will fix this issue (they did in the April patch but had to roll back because it broke the game for Lion users) before Catalina is released. Beta versions of OSs are not supported.
