game crashes

I am on a mac and I cannot play in game. Creating sims is fine and works great, but the second I try to start the game after 3-4 minutes it crashes and will not reset itself. I also see the rainbow pinwheel on my mouse. I have tried checking the processor I am running, as well as restarting my computer. Has anyone else had this problem and how do I fix it?
