downloading sims 4 on mac

Help please - when the update came out for sims 4 in june my game told me i would have to update it before i could continue playing. Long story short i had to uninstall the entire game and now i can't download Sims 4 at all to get it back on my Macbook. Apparently a few people had a similar issue. any updates or advice on fixing the issue?

This is an issue which EA are aware of and working on. Upgrading to Sierra/High Sierra fixes it as it is a problem for those running Yosemite.
