changed to online from disc but it won't let me play?

i bought the sims a while ago in the disc format and i decided it was time to move to electronic copies. i redeemed my codes and dowloaded the game, but when i try to play the game says "please insert your game disc". Will i have to buy the game all over again, or is there a way to get it to convert?

You have to uninstall (disc version) and reinstall (digital version) the most recent EP then download and install the patch for the digital version of the game.
