can't start up sims 4 after the update on origin mac

So after the newest sims 4 update and the whole having to re download all of the packs finally i was ready to start playing, but i couldn't click on the play button? so i tried to click on play on one of the packs and it worked but then all of the text was gone on the start page, i've removed all of the mods and re started my computer but it didn't help.
