“Your download has been paused” - Help!

Hi!

 

Having trouble downloading sims 4 through origin on my mac. 

 

The error coming up says “Your download has been paused - Origin needs to download files and is waiting for permission. Please choose Yes when Windows prompts you for permission.”

 

No window or pop up comes up and all the troubleshooting for this issue comes up with solutions for PC not mac— I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled origin multiple times now and have gone through and removed any stray sims files from when it was on my mac last. 

 

Any help at all is appreciated, cheers

You have to go to System Preferences > Security and Privacy > General. The permission to continue to download Origin will be there at the bottom - you have to accept.

Is there a pop up window asking for a password for the Origin Helper Tool or similar? The window may be behind another open window on your Mac. If so it is asking for Administrator permission to complete installation. If you post a screenshot of the message it would help Standard smile

Hey!

 

Cheers for the suggestions!

 

Unfortunately running the system preferences > Security/privacy > general didn't seem to initiate any pop-ups for me to accept.

 

Also, I've been making sure to check behind any active windows and minimising them during the "resuming" process to ensure I don't miss any authorization pop-ups and still nothing :-(

 

Have attached a photo of the first method + the error window for any additional input/insight,

 

Again thanks for the help, any further suggestions are greatly appreciated,

The System Preferences suggestion does not initiate a pop-up window, that is a separate troubleshooting suggestion.

Odd that it's referencing Windows. Where did you purchase the game from? Are you using a proxy or VPN?

@Bluebellflora that's what I thought too! and all the solutions Ive looked for are for PC users haha, bought all legit off origin + a few expansions, no proxy or VPN. Had the game all installed and working about a year and a half ago and needed to uninstall to make room, its this time around that it been giving me issues

It really is a bit crazy! Is your user account on your Mac an administrator account? If so then try the following:

Back up your Sims 4 folder (just in case) then run the Origin reset tool, then trash the Origin app in your Applications window. Empty the trash, restart your Mac, then re-download and install Origin. Hopefully that may fix it.

If it isn’t an admin account then try updating through an admin account and see if that initiates the pop up.
