Unrecognized video card

★★★ Newbie

Hi all,

I have just loaded The Sims 4 for the first time on my new laptop. I have a Macbook Pro 2020 with the following specs:

2.0 GHz Quadcore Processor Intel Core i5

16GB 3733MHz memory

Intel Iris Plus Graphics 1536MB

When I load the game, it says that it does not recognize my video card, but will set the graphics as high as possible. This automatically sets the graphics to all the highest settings, however, I feel like the game is not running smoothly.

What is the issue? The computer should be more than good enough to run the game properly. My old 2012 Macbook could handle it!

Please help!

@MazHenz

It's exactly as you've explained. The graphics chip in your Mac probably isn't in the game database yet so the game has set all the settings to high which your Mac can't comfortably handle. Lower the in-game graphics options to get your game to run more smoothly.

Instructions here if you would like to add your Intel chip to the database - https://bluebellflora.com/sims-4-how-to-add-your-gpu-to-the-graphicscards-sgr-file/
