I've heard before that MacBooks are the best for gaming, but I've had it for a few years and never had any problems. I guess I'm really lucky. I have all the packs installed. I've tried putting my graphic settings on low, but it didn't help so I went back to my custom setup.

@QueenieJocelyn

MacBooks really aren't the best for gaming, that's misinformation I'm afraid.

Thanks for the screenshot. Having laptop mode enabled will greatly help but gaming causes so much heat and it has no way of cooling down.

Try a brand new clean vanilla game with none of your user data by dragging the Sims 4 folder to the desktop. Then load up your game (it will be like you've never played before) and see if the problem persists. You will have to create a household and rebuild.

You could try a super repair if the issue is still there:

- In your Applications folder right click on the Sims 4 app and select Show Package Contents.
- Navigate to Contents > Mac OS.
- Right click on The Sims 4 and select Move to Trash. Don't drag the file as it will only move an alias and leave the original in place.
- Now open Origin, right click on The Sims 4 in your Games Library and click Repair Game.

@Bluebellflora Sorry that was a typo. MacBooks are one of the worst, and I'm grateful I haven't had any problems so far. I tried cleaning the game and had no luck. I used the super repair and had better results. The white lot still appears, but I can now place a lower level in build mode. When I do so, the lot no longer appears white. So while it didn't work all the way, it's far better than what it was and now I can actually play in the basement level.

@QueenieJocelyn

Ah, that makes sense!

Good to know the super repair worked a bit. Could you open the Config.log file in your Sims 4 folder and copy/paste the section under === Graphics device info === I just want to check your Intel graphics in the GraphicsCards file.

Re: Lot turns white when trying to view basement/lower level

@QueenieJocelyn

Thanks! Super helpful. Your Intel chip isn't showing in the GraphicsCards.sgr file (Found:0) although it's showing as supported (Supported:1). Lets add it and see if that helps.

  • Right click on the game in your Applications folder and select Show Package Contents
  • Open the Contents folder then open the GraphicsCards.sgr file with TextEdit
  • Hit CMD and F to bring up the search bar in the file and type in 0x5926 then Enter/Return. It should highlight that Device ID, the full line will show
    card 0x5926 "Intel (R) HD 640" $cardLevelMedium $resolutionMedium

  • Click at the end of that line and hit Enter/Return to create a new blank line underneath it, like this:
  •
  • Screenshot 2020-03-02 at 21.27.09.png

  • Copy and paste this in that empty line:
  • card 0x591e "Intel (R) HD 615" $cardLevelMedium $resolutionMedium

  • Close the file then launch your game and check to see if the issue is still there. After closing your game open the Config file again and see if the value is Found:1, Supported:1

@Bluebellflora It still shows the white lot, but my game did notify me that it found and recognised the video card, so thanks! I didn't even know that was a problem.

@QueenieJocelyn

Ah, good to know, thanks! Not sure about the white lot, maybe just play around with settings more and see if you can fix it that way Standard smile
