i purchased the sims 3 (online) several years ago and had minimal problems with it, and used it on windows. recently i downloaded it on a mac & downloaded my old packs and well as new ones (all bought online), and after waiting a very long time for all of my packs to download, it says that i need to update, but when i try to, it fails. i've read a few threads that suggested i might need to uninstall everything and reinstall it, but is there anything i can do instead of that? i would hate to have to re-download everything after waiting so long for it to finish.

The Sims 3 doesn't perform well on most newer Macs due to it largely being incompatible with the hardware Apple now use. There has been no update for the game in 4 years so any operating system post 10.9 Mavericks is also unsupported. But with a little TLC you may be able to play, depending on what Mac you have.
