Re: The sims 3 and squiggly lines on MAC ???

@alexayrol  Please move your entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you open the launcher, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  Launch the game and load a new save, but don't change any of the graphics settings, with the exception of switching between fullscreen and windowed mode (cmd-return) to see whether one looks better than the other.

If you still see the same graphics issues, please attach your deviceconfig.log to a post; it's in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3.  (You'll need to manually open the folders; the file won't show up in a search.)  You can delete your user and computer names, about 25 lines down, but there's nothing else in that file that can identify you.

Re: The sims 3 and squiggly lines on MAC ???

@alexayrol  Your laptop's graphics chip is below the minimum requirement for the 64-bit version of Sims 3.  That doesn't mean the game won't work at all, as you've seen, but I'm not surprised you're seeing weird graphics glitches.  The graphics chip will use a different driver than newer chips and cards, and it's possible that the way this version was designed doesn't take into account the behavior of your chip or its driver.  That is to say, I'm not sure there's a good solution, especially since you're already using the lowest graphics settings and you said that switching between fullscreen and windowed modes didn't help.

If you want to keep trying, there are only a few things I can think to suggest.  Make sure your laptop can properly cool itself, on the off chance that the issue happens to be related to thermal throttling; and try playing after restarting your computer, with nothing else running in the background other than Origin, to free up as much memory as possible.  It's possible that installing macOS Mojave could help: the OS should have a different graphics driver.  But I don't know that this will make any difference, only that it's theoretically possible.  Catalina and Big Sur aren't a good idea because they use more memory, and you have little enough installed, and because they don't support 32-bit apps.

The other option you have, whether you install Mojave or not, is to go back to the 32-bit version.  It's actually more stable on Macs with lower-end hardware, and it doesn't have some of the graphics glitches or gameplay bugs of the newer version.  Its major disadvantage is its 2 GB RAM limit, and of course Catalina and Big Sur can't run it.  But because your laptop only has 4 GB memory total, much of which will be used by the OS, there may not be more than 2 GB left over for Sims 3 anyway.
