The Sims 4 Frozen at Loading Screen!

Hey all,

Small issue. I just recently bought the new Sims 4 Expansion pack Get Famous and since then my game seems to freeze on the sims 4 logo when you first open the game? I'm on an iMac and when I get out of the game, it says that the application is not responding. I've read around and tried taking out my cc from my mods folder and putting them in a seperate folder on my desktop - this hasn't worked. I've also repaired the game on Origin three times, which also hasn't helped. I'm out of ideas at this point and would love some help. I also just recently updated my iMac to MacOS High Sierra or whatever the latest update is called, so this may be issue? However I'm unsure and super stuck at this point.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Let me know if you need anymore info.

Thanks in advance!

Please disable Origin in-game and see if that helps.

Ok. Could you move the whole Sims 4 folder to your desktop then try to launch the game?

I’ve moved it to the desktop and tried to relaunch it but it’s still frozen

@ellamaree8, have you restarted your computer? This may help close out some files that may think the game is still running. Next, after restarting, try resetting Origin before starting up the game. Here is the link on how to do so.

https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/origin/origin/how-to-reset-origin-on-mac/

Once you reset Origin, you will need to check your Preferences and insure that Origin In Game is turned off as well as "Save to iCloud" disabled.

Please report back here and let us know if this has solved your problem.

@Tremayne4260 Thank you for this! I've just given it a go and it hasn't worked unfortunately. However when I go to force quit sims 4 (the only way to close it when its frozen), it doesn't come up with application unresponsive now

Please can you provide more information about your Mac. Instructions on how to do so here - http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-Mac/READ-FIRST-Sims-4-Mac-Help-Guides-and-Troubleshooting/m-p/4612...

If your Mac has NVIDIA graphics you may need to update the driver manually. There was an issue with High Sierra and NVIDIA GPUs a while ago which was fixed by updating the driver through NVIDIA's site.

@ellamaree8

No NVIDIA graphics, that's good Standard smile

Could you try this:

  1. In your Applications folder right click on the Sims 4 app and select Show Package Contents.
  2. Navigate to Contents > Mac OS.
  3. Right click on The Sims 4 and select Move to Trash. Don't drag the file as it will only move an alias and leave the original in place. If there is another file in the folder, The Sims 4.par, leave it alone.
  4. Now open Origin, click on The Sims 4 in your Games Library and click on Download.
