I have a question. Why doesn’t your sim never return back from university in island paradise? It’s like they are “there” and the game its acting like you can play with them back on their lot but they are not. I wish I took a picture, but I deleted the game and started over.

@nessatay2223 The travel transition in Sims 3 is quite fragile and breaks easily, so it's not uncommon for sims to fail to return from a vacation. I'm not sure why University is causing such problems for players running the 64-bit Mac version, but you're hardly the only one affected. And the issue isn't limited to Isla Paradiso either.
If you plan on sending your sims to University again, I'd highly recommend installing a few mods, in particular NRaas Traveler along with ErrorTrap, Overwatch, and Register. Traveler replaces the default EA travel transition with a more stable version; Register controls and can fix role assignments (mostly sims that staff role-giving objects like cash registers); the other two clean up corruption and stray data. All of these do their job in the background, with no need for player input. The reason Register is on this list is that when I've looked at other players' affected saves, I've noticed a lot of errors related to role sims, and Register cleans those up.
In the future, if you do wind up with a sim that can't travel home properly, you can always post here asking for help. I've fixed a few saves for other players and could do the same for you, if it came to that.

Sorry that I am responding late to your reply. Thank you for this information! Do I place these files in the download folder?
