TS4 malfunctioning on Mac after purchasing University

I purchased TS4 Discover University today and now my game keeps malfunctioning. It gets stuck on a single sim, and won't let me switch control to another, and all sims freeze, but I can still move around the world. I've tried updating origin, and repairing my game. I also have the Origin in-game turned off. My Mac is running 10.13.6 High Sierra, and is not showing any updates for my OS. I'm at a loss for what else to do, and am super disappointed that I haven't been able to play the new content.
