Stuck In Visit Mode

I tried visit mode out for the first time on a sim id created  few days ago.

When i did, everything was really weird. The screen was pitch black  (except for the pause button, map and the menu) and the only things i could see were the thoughts of sims and here their voices.

Nothing i clicked on worked, so i was force to exit it by shutting down. This kept happening every time until i stopped playing the sims for a while.

When i came back to place the sims, i could see everything clearly and i was STILL IN VISIT MODE. Again, nothing i clicked on worked and im started to get worried. Help me pleazse!
