@LadyBugJudy18

What troubleshooting steps have you tried to fix it?

ALREADY RUNNING SIMS 4 SOLVED

I've had the sims since 2017 and I recently started playing more often now. Ever since I started playing in 2019 I haven't been running the sims through Origin, and I've gotten the ''already running'' on my Mac. Launching The Sims 4 app itself by clicking it is im pretty sure what caused it to make the already running show up (from my experience). What you need to do is click Origin and play the sims through there I've been doing that and noticing that I don't get the error code anymore. Make sure your Origin is always up to date as well. I hope this helps!!!

i then went back onto my regular user which i have used since i got my macbook two weeks ago and every single one of my files was deleted. no documents, no desktop files, no downloads, it is all gone. over 2,700 files of cc and all my schoolwork has disappeared. do you know how i can fix this?

I have an error message for my Sims 4 game. I've tried the common troubleshooting, but haven't been able to sort it out. Please help.

@Skidz_LFC

Please move the Sims 4 folder from Documents > Electronic Arts to the desktop then try and launch the game.

Sims 4 on Mac - Unable to Start: The Sims 4 is already running.

★★ Novice

I know there are a couple of other posts already on here about this exact same problem but they are either quite old, they don't have answers, or the answers that I've tried don't work or they require me loosing all my previously saved games which I am trying to avoid. I know how to get the game itself working again but I want to find a solution that allows me to start where I left off.

I played the game just yesterday with no problems and I haven't updated my computer recently.

Here are my specs:

  • MacOS Catalina 10.15.7
  • Macbook Pro (16in, 2019)
  • 2.4 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9
  • 32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4
  • AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8 GB Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB

  • Are you attempting to play the normal version of the game or the Legacy Edition? - I don't know. Upon opening the Electronic Arts folder in my Documents it does show both versions; however, I launch the game from Origins so I don't know what it picks
  • Are you running any antivirus? - No
  • Have you tried to repair the game in Origin? - Yes, didn't work
  • Do you use CC/Mods? - I don't know what these are...

I am a MEGA AMATEUR when it comes to computer stuff (like I don't know what RAM is or how to clear a cache) and I'm really looking for a simple/straight forward answer if anyone can. I have almost 300 hrs into my game and will be really sad if I lose all my work. Thanks!
