EDIT:
Managed to open Origin by allowing it under System Preferences.
Now I’m getting the “Sims is already running” error message even when it’s not.
I’ve tried updating and repairing the game, neither of which have let me open the game.
ORIGINAL POST:
Yesterday, I installed MacOS Catalina. Once it had installed without issue, Origin became unresponsive.
I made a backup of my Sims 4 files just in case, but I re-downloaded and re-installed Origin because it wouldn’t open.
The following error message appears every time I try and open Origin:
“Origin can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information.”
I’m leaving this post here in case anyone else had the same problem and found a work around.

I wrote this 'essay' yesterday after having taken measures, I never thought I'd have to do. Rest assured, there is something to be done!
Have a nice day!
