Sims 4 won't save on Macbook Pro 2020

I've recently bought a Macbook Pro with 1TB of storage, 16 GB of memory.

I have the sims 4 along with 200$+ worth in expansion packs. Unfortunately, whenever I finish renovating my house, the game remains on the saving screen for hours. This is very frustrating because this mac was supposed to be capable of playing this game without the issues.

If anyone could let me know what I could be doing wrong that'd be great. Let me know if you need any more information to help me further .
