Sims 4 on Mac won't open

Hey all- I've always wanted Sims but was never allowed to install it on the family computer, i now have my own Mac and have downloaded Origin and Sims 4 to finally have a go and play sims for the first time- I've done everything i read up about to play it on the Mac etc. however every time i click on the game to open and load it comes up with a warning message saying: 

'Unable to start due to missing game data. Please download The Sims 4 Legacy Edition from Origin.'

Can someone help as i don't know what to do- I'm new to all this and i don't want to have to buy and download another sims game for it to tell me i still can't play- does anyone know what to do here?
