Sims 4 game wont let me play??

My sims 4 game will let me load up my family but when the household is selected there is no pause bar or option to go into build mode. And it just has the red outline around the screen like its paused. I updated my sims 4 mods since the new update but I dunno how to fix this and play now cause it let me do cas perfectly fine just wont let me actually play the game...

Move your Mods folder to the desktop, trash the localthumbcache.package file then load a non-modded game and see if the problem persists.

I did that and it worked but then I hit my mods folder back in and it does the same thing

That means you have incompatible CC/Mods. You need to check they are all up to date with the creator.
