Sims 4 Update Loop, game won't launch

I am in a constant battle with my sims4 game. It is downloaded (and has been successfully played) onto an external hard drive. The most recent update required has been installed but when I go to play, another update is required, and the cycle continues. I have tried repairing the game, clearing Origin cache, resetting origin, restarting my computer, etc. Any help would be much appreciated, I just want to play!!

Launch your game through the actual app and not through Origin.
