I have the exact same problem. I upgraded to High Sierra for those freaking security reasons, and now my game won't open at all!!! It worked just fine RIGHT BEFORE!!
I have re-installed, repaired, used the reset tool, followed the steps offered!! But nothing.
I knew this stupid upgrade would mess things up, I just knew it...
Could someone please come up with a solution?

I have created a thread for this issue since the December 2017 patch as the issue does not appear to be High Sierra. Please read the thread here - https://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-Mac/Sims-4-not-opening-Please-read-here-first/m-p/6614441#M11150

Well now that you say that the mininmum is (10.7) I just updated mine to High Sierra 10.13.3. But the game literally won't start and it's not telling me why.

Please run the Origin reset tool then try again.
The NVIDIA 9400M in your Mac is not supported so will struggle to play. I'm sure you've managed to play before but as it is not supported there is the risk that it may not work. Try the above though and see if it helps.
