Sims 4 Game won't load past The sims 4 logo screen after mac update

HELP! I just installed the update for Sims 4 on my Mac. I've played this game with no problems for a year. I don't have any expansions or mods, I just play regular old Sims 4. I haven't played in a few months, and when I opened Origins it installed the update at home and now the game won't load past the Sims 4 title screen. I can hear the main menu music, as if it's going to change to the next screen, but it never does. I've even tried pulling the (empty) mods folder, re-starting the game, re-starting my computer...nothing. HELP!!!

Try the following.

Move your entire Sims 4 folder to your Desktop, but DO NOT DELETE IT! Start up the game and see if it will now start up. Also make sure you are running the latest version of the Mac OS.
